Review: The next stop on our tour of the gyms of Nha Trang was Dang Xinh Yogo & Gym, which was actually the closest gym to the backpackers area. At only 20,000 for a day pass, it was also budget friendly too. In-fact, this was the cheapest gym that I trained in whilst in Nha Trang.

Breaking with the recent trend, the gym had a wooden floor, so I knew straight away this was a professional place. The gym itself was a medium size, but with a clear focus on cardio and machines over free-weights. Whilst it is possible to get a decent workout here, it is worth noting that the gym doesn't have any barbell benches, or a squat rack. In addition to this, the dumbbells only up to 20kg meaning that this probably isn't the gym to train chest.

That being said, the gym does have a lot going for it. This gym has:

  • dumbbells up to 20kg
  • Adjustable benches
  • Smith machine
  • Cables
  • Chest press machine
  • Fixed weight easy bars
  • Pull up bars
  • Lower back raise stand
  • Lat pulldown machine
  • Leg extension machine
  • Leg curl machine
  • Pec dec
  • Abs machines
  • Lat pulldown machine
  • Medicine balls
  • Swiss balls
  • Battle ropes
  • Cross trainers
  • Treadmills
  • Static bikes
  • Yoga studio
As well as the gym itself, there was a smoothie bar selling home made fruit smoothies and a small store selling sports and yoga clothing. If you are looking for supplements in Nha Trang, then you can check out my article about where to find protein in Vietnam here

Strangely, the client base for this gym was almost exclusively women when we went. There was a yoga class going on in one of the rooms which looked professional and well attended, and there were several women using the weights and cardio equipment. If was so gender one sided that I did actually check with the reception staff that this wasn't a women only gym, but they reassured me that it wasn't.

The gym was air conditioned, well maintained and clean. The staff here were all really friendly and even came to pose with me without any cajoling at all.

Who is this gym for? This gym does offer a safe, clean and professional place to train, but in all honesty, I would only recommend this gym to women looking to do yoga, cardio or light free-weight work, or those on a tight budget. The lack of a barbell bench, heavy dumbbells, or a squat rack means that heavy lifters of both sexes should probably look elsewhere. However, there is enough equipment here to put a workout together if you can be creative and don't mind making some compromises. For those looking to do more complex or heavier lifts, I would recommend Olympic Nha Trang gym much better equipped for this kind of training. You can read about this gym here.

However, if you are looking for a place to practice yoga in Nha Trang, rather than a gym in Nha Trang, then I would highly recommend this place! (Clunky SEO friendly sentence much?)

Tips: Whilst I was there the gym were offering free yoga sessions with no purchase necessary. I don't know what their offers will be later in the year, but it is worth checking out their facebook page here to keep upto date with any offers they may have.
